New Class Gift $7,800 Goal

fundraising thermometer Update Thermometer

We did it! ... And you can still give to the class gift!

The original goal was $2,500. Due to the kindness of a fellow classmate, a Challenge / Match was established. We needed twenty (20) $50+ donations to receive a challenge match of $500.

The response has been overwhelming. As of the reunion, not only have we qualified for the $500 matching gift, but so far, we've raised $5,573 to date. We've revised the goal to $7,800. It is within our reach.

Our original goal was $2,500 to purchase a 70" Monitor for the Allderdice Library. The generosity of 68 classmates means that we're a little more than $2,227 away from funding wireless microphones and a film making workshop for Allderdice.

It's not too late to participate and give to the class gift. Please give $25, $50, $100 or more if you can.

Get a free set of Coasters when you donate $75 or more

By purchasing ads in the program, Squirrel Hill merchants have underwritten the cost of this set of Laser Engraved Coasters that are made from 1/8" Baltic Birch that are hand rubbed with two coats of Tung Oil. Having a retail value of $35, this highly detailed set of Coasters is 3 3/4" wide and will be mailed to you at no cost.

Class members who have already donated $75 or more should either have received their coaster set at the reunion or they are being mailed to you if you did not attend the reunion.

  • We're planning a Picnic on Sunday August 5, 2018 at the Anderson Playground from 11:30am until the food runs out.

The cost is $15.00 per person.

We're going to have Giant Eagle cater the event with fried chicken, several salads, and side dishes. We'll also be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers. Soft drinks and deserts are included. The more people who register, the more food there will be.

Note: The rental permit does not allow alcohol. If you want to bring beers/wine/booze for everyone (or anyone), we need to spend another $75.00 with Pittsburgh Parks for an alcohol permit. Anyone who wants to sponsor this permit is welcome to contact us.

You don't have to attend the Reunion Dinner event on Saturday to attend the Picnic.

    Who is coming?

    • Know Something,
      Do Something,
      Be Something,
      .... Give Something!

Allderdice's Principal Dr. James McCoy has requested that our class purchase a 70" Conference Room Monitor that will be installed in a classroom adjacent to the Library in the Annex. The monitor will be used by students who are doing multimedia presentations for their classes .

The cost of the monitor that will be our Class Gift to Allderdice is approximately $2,500. We hope that you can find it in your heart to donate between $10 and $100 to the next generation of students.

We're sure that you have all heard about the issues regarding the old Allderdice Alumni Association in 2017. To prevent any issues, the Reunion Committee will purchase the monitor and have it delivered to Allderdice and make sure that it has been installed. This is the same process that was followed in 2008.

If we can't raise enough money for a monitor, we'll determine another item that can be utilized for the benefit of the students and staff.

In 2008, on the occasion of our 30th Reunion, our Class of 1978 raised nearly $2200 and purchased two (2) Bike Racks for Allderdice High School to fulfill Principal Robert Scherrer's request.

The excess money (approximately $500) that was raised helped to fund an Eagle Scout Project that built a Gazebo at the Charles Morris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

If you have not yet made a donation toward this gift, please consider donating between $10 and $100 (or more if you can) to the “Gift from the Class of 1978.” It would be great to have 100% participation as we help future graduates of our alma mater:

Know Something, Do Something, Be Something.... Give Something!

...or you can make your check payable to:

      6557 Bartlett Street
      Pittsburgh, PA 15217

Please write "Donation" in the memo field of your check
